Celebrating Women

Today is the International Women’s day. A day set aside to celebrate   acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extra ordinary role in the world. That is what the UN women states but in my opinion, it is a day to celebrate all women all over the world. It is not easy to be a woman, whether young or old, in this world of ours today. So, I celebrate all women in the world today calling to mind the strength which they possess in facing the many challenges they face each day as women.

Beyond The Classroom Foundation’s “Back to School Project”

I am impressed when I see young people contribute to putting an end to the problems in the society.
On the 15th of  Febuary, 2013, no fewer than 512 students of Adeife Shodipo Memorial Primary School in Bariga, Lagos, Nigeria, benefitted from the 3rd edition of the “Back to School project” of the Beyond the Classroom Foundation – a foundation aimed at providing support to indigent students in public schools in various communities across Nigeria.

The Role of Parents in Raising the New Generation of Leaders

Yesterday, on the blog, was a post by Amina, the co-founder and deputy director of the Young Muslim Women international, on Youths as Agents of Change. If you have not read her article, simply click on the link above. Today, I have chosen to discuss the role of parents in raising the youths as ideal leaders for the world. I would share my thoughts and opinions and I hope I can get to read your own opinions on the discussion via your comments.

THE YOUTHS AS AGENTS OF CHANGE by Amina Adhan Ahmed

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it is the only thing that ever does. This is very true about the youths when they get committed. We have an important role to play as advocates of change. We are a powerful force that can be harnessed to advance change in Africa. We can bridge the gap by forming youth based organisations to address issues in our communities.

The Act of Giving

The act of giving can sometimes be an uphill task for some people. This reminds me of the man in the Bible (Matthew 19:16-30). The story is about the man who wanted to have eternal life and Jesus asked him to keep all the commandments. He told Jesus that he has kept all of the commandments and wanted to know if he was still lacking in anything. Jesus then asked the man to sell off his possessions and give the proceeds to the poor. The Bible says that the man went away sad because he was a wealthy man.

Tammy is a beautiful young woman with high moral values. She has a good job, an ever-loving mother, a caring best friend and a boyfriend. She has a very good job which takes up so much of her time though, she loves what she does. Out of her busy schedule, she has time for God as she is not just a leading member of the choir but also heads the church’s dance group.
